Chattanooga firefighters on Sunday afternoon saved most of a burn townhome in Hixson, but a pet died in the fire.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 4 p.m. and responded to 1280 Greenbrook Lane with four fire companies. Battalion Chief Chris Warren said the bulk of the fire was on the exterior of the backside of the structure.

Firefighters attacked the fire aggressively to prevent further damage.
An estimate on the dollar loss was not available.

Chief Warren said no one was home at the time of the fire, but two pet dogs were inside. One dog died, but the initial indications are that the firefighters were able to revive the other one.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.
