Sanders, Evelyn Shipman

Evelyn Shipman Sanders, Granny, as she was affectionately known by those closest to her, transitioned to her heavenly home on September 21, 2018, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Instead of mourning, she requested that we celebrate her 95 years of life.  She has now been reunited with her parents, Doc and Hattie Shipman, her beloved husband, James Sanders, as well as other numerous relatives and friends.

Granny loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, and soul.  Granny was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Lookout Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Tn., where during her years of Christian discipleship she served in various capacities.  She was best known for her melodic soprano voice.  Her rendition of Calvary every Easter will be immensely missed.  One of her greatest accomplishments was being a charter member of Good Neighbors Incorporated.  Helping Hand was not just the name of her club. It was her creed. She believed that through helping others and showing them the love of Christ through her words and deeds that she could be a beacon of light in the darkness.  We have no doubt that God has received her with open arms.

Granny did not attend funerals, she often told us to give her roses while she lived.  In honor of that request, there will be no formal services.  We simply ask that in her honor, you praise God for her blessed 95 years and spend time building your personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Patricia, Leslye, Ronald, Daniel, Evelyn, Jayden, Maya, Drayton, & Joan.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Matthew 25:21 KJV
