Citizens For Home Rule Political Action Committee's Endorses Bobby Wood, Jonathan Mason

  • Tuesday, June 26, 2018
John Avery Emison announced The Citizens for Home Rule Political Action Committee’s endorsement of Bobby Wood for his re-election to the Republican State Executive Committee District 11. The group also endorsed Jonathan Mason for House District 30.
The Citizens for Home Rule Political Action Committee was actively involved in the Passage of Rep.
Mike Carter’s Bill to prohibit Cities from annexing areas without first allowing the citizens of that area to have a voice.  As a State Representative Bobby Wood had fought the battle for that right but fell victim to a special subcommittee set up each Session to deal with and defeat any resident’s right proposed, it was stated.
The Wood campaign said, "The duties of the State Executive Committee are not familiar to many voters or considered influential by many lobbying groups but the efforts of Bobby Wood through his assignment on the Issues Committee brought clarity to the importance and influence of the SEC on matters of importance to the citizens of Tennessee.  He proposed and passed a Resolution to be sent to every Senator and Representative in the Legislature urging them to honor the will of the people they represent on this particular matter. Carter’s Bill passed by an over whelming majority.
"Bobby Wood’s experience and wisdom gained by 28 years of service as District 26 State Representative shows the importance and potential of this Committee.  We are endorsing him to continue that fight for this and other citizen’s rights to serve as District 11 Republican State Executive Committee Man."

Mr. Emison said, "Mr. Mason is a pro-property rights, pro-citizen candidate, and we look forward to his work in the General Assembly. Mr. Mason is no new comer to the battle for citizen’s property rights, our group first met Mr. Mason in 2014 when he worked with Commissioner Sabrena Smedley, fighting for property rights in Tennessee. We are pleased to endorse Jonathan Mason.”

Mr. Mason said, Our property is often our biggest investment. Too many times are citizens threatened by their own government looking to seize their land. We have seen this action just recently by the City of East Ridge’s Council. As the next State Representative for District 30, I will ensure that forced annexation remains illegal and will fight to close loopholes that municipalities use for eminent domain in the name of redevelopment and urban renewal.”
