Larry Turner
Larry L. Turner, Sr., 68, passed away on July 7, 2018 in Chattanooga.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1949, in Huntsville, Al., to Joseph Turner and Dorothy Ruth Humphrey Gardner. He was a graduate of Howard High School class of 1967. He retired from BASF, formerly Polysar Corp. after 43 years of service. He was a member of bowling leagues and class of 67 reunion class president. He was a deacon of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his neighbors, bowling, yard work, making friends and ministering to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Turner, Sr., Huntsville; and sister, Voncina R. Porter, Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mae Turner, Ringgold; daughter, Monica (Mike) Boggus, Ringgold; three sons, Larry L. (Candice) Turner, Jr., Rossville, Tnayo M. (Jennifer) Turner, Ringgold, and Corey Sims, Jackson, Ga.; daughter, Lenekra D. Turner, Atlanta; mother, Dorothy R. Gardner, Chattanooga; brother, Joseph Turner, Jr., Atlanta; sisters, Brenda Moorer, Lena Thomas Hall and Betty Willis all of Chattanooga, Shirley Sales, Arkansas; brother, Scottie Sales, Huntsville; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and beloved daughter, Eura Pierre.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, July 12, at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
A visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the church.
