A man was shot in the shoulder by a police officer at Charleston, Tn., early Sunday after a domestic disturbance call.

At approximately 2 a.m., Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call near Laguna Drive in Charleston. Lance Leroy MacTaggart has been taken into custody on four counts of aggravated assault.

While the victim sought medical treatment, deputies prepared a warrant for MacTaggart’s arrest and returned to the building in an attempt to located him. Three deputies entered the building and called out MacTaggart’s name, which he responded to from a bedroom, stating that he was armed with a gun.

The deputies in the building could see MacTaggart through the open bedroom door and gave him commands that he ultimately ignored, the Sheriff's Office said. One of the deputies deployed a taser in an unsuccessful attempt to subdue MacTaggart. MacTaggart immediately brandished a handgun, pointing it at the deputies. One deputy fired his service weapon striking MacTaggart once with a non-fatal shot to the shoulder.

MacTaggart was transported to Tennova Medical Center where he was treated. Upon MacTaggart’s release from Tennova, he was booked at the Bradley County Jail on four counts of aggravated assault.
