World War II Veteran Held Long Careers With Combustion And The North River YMCA

Stanley V. Myers, 100, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on October 2, 2019.

 

He was an Army sergeant who served during World War II and a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Stanley worked for Combustion for 31 years and for the North River YMCA for 27 years. He loved to tinker with electronics and was an avid baseball fan for the Atlanta Braves. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Ethel Myers; wife, Bobbie Jean Myers; son, Larry Vincent Myers McKinney and great-grandson, Matthew Jameson Ray.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Debbie McKinney (Dwayne) Cales; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann McKinney; sister, Helen Dower, nieces, Cinthia Carolan Dower, Pamela Dower, Kathleen (Kathy) Dower, Patricia Dower; grand and great grandnieces and nephews and his long time friend, Paula Hurn. 

A special thank you to the many staff members of Hospice of Chattanooga for the love and care during a difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the North River YMCA, 4138 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
