Billy Jason Allen, M.D., 92,  of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

Billy was born in Ooltewah, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga and Ooltewah areas.  Billy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Following graduation from Ooltewah High School, Billy married Mary Virginia Pearson, and served in the Navy during World War II.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee after receiving his degree in Pharmacy and established Allen’s Pharmacy in Chattanooga.  He returned to the University of Tennessee to pursue a medical degree and began serving as a physician in private practice in the Chattanooga and later Ooltewah areas.  He was active in the medical community and served as president of the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society and the Tennessee Academy of Family Practice.    

Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 73 years, Mary Virginia Pearson Allen; parents, Clifford and Gertrude Allen; brothers, Wayne, Howard, and Carl Allen. 

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Ken) Scarbrough, Diane (Pat) Shuck; two granddaughters, Allison (Candler) Boyd; Emily (Casey) Waite; and four great-grandchildren, Carter and Lauren Boyd; Colton and Wyatt Waite; and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel with Mrs. Diane Stocker officiating.    

Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that random acts of kindness be made to others in need from the example set by Dr. Billy and Mary Allen. 

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
