Ella “Joan” Shoemaker, age 79, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Thursday October 10, 2019 at Pruitt Health Care in Ft. Oglethorpe.

She was born March 25, 1940 in Robbinsville, N.C., a daughter of the late Jerry and Ruby Davis Mull. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Shoemaker; grandson, Tommy Campbell; brothers, Charles Mull and Harold Mull; and sisters, Ruth Mull Morgan and Hellen Mull.

She was a graduate of Dalton High School. She was the owner and operator of Joan’s Restaurant for many years. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dewayne Campbell; grandson, Jonathan Campbell of Dalton, Ga.; sister, Shelby Black of Bessemer City, N.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Barbara Shoemaker of Alabama, Lola and Danny Earwood of Dalton, Ga., Shirley Shoemaker of Gainesville, Ga., Penny Mull, Joyce Mull of Gastonia, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.   

Visitation to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ella “Joan” Shoemaker will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, from 5-9 p.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel.
