Land, Syble Christine Bates (Dalton)

Syble Christine Bates Land, 75, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, October 17, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Syble was born Dec. 29, 1943 in Dalton, Ga., a daughter of the late James Ralph and Geneva Henry Bates.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Barney Roger Land; sisters, Geneva “Sis” Bates, Margaret Kellams, Betty Chastain and Dorothy Harris; and brothers, Jimmie Steven, Junior, Kenneth, Charles and Ricky Bates.

Syble was retired from Classic Sample Company. 

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Land; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Donna Land, Daniel and Lisa Land and Gary Land, all of Dalton, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Bates of Chatsworth, Ga., James Bates, Randy and Betty Bates and G.W. and Jeanette Bates all of Dalton, Ga.; grandchildren, Chasity Land, Matt Land, Joshua Hall, Destiney Harkless and Alyssa Land; great-grandchildren, Christian Chambers, Trevor Land and Kennedy Land; and nine nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Syble Christine Bates Land will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Matt Higdon officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at West Hill Cemetery with her family and close friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 10 a.m. Sunday until the service hour.
