Longtime Math And P.E. Teacher Loved Coaching Children Of All Ages

Robert L. “Bob” Sanders, passed away Thursday evening, October 31, 2019, surrounded by his family after a lengthy journey with Dementia.  

He was the son of George and Becky Sanders.  He is survived by Judy Sanders who he was married to over 50 years.  He is also survived by his children he loved dearly- Michelle Sanders (Shawn O’Neill), Brian (Sherry) Sanders, Suzanne (Allard) Bayne, and grandchildren Chris and Tanner Bayne.  

Bob was a graduate of Red Bank High School, Carson Newman University, Appalachian State University and Tennessee Tech University.  He taught Math and P.E. and coached football at several area schools for 43 years.  He loved coaching and working with children of all ages as well as being involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.  

Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 4-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home~ Ashland Terrace.  

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Red Bank Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Collegedale and Hearth Hospice which took such loving care of him and became a part of our family.
