Habitat For Humanity And Community Partners Launch Orchard Knob Collaborative

  • Thursday, November 21, 2019

Habitat for Humanity has joined forces with local community partners to launch the expansive Orchard Knob Collaborative.

The Orchard Knob Collaborative partners include Parkridge Health System, the Orchard Knob Neighborhood Association, and the United Way of Greater Chattanooga. Together they are renovating five homes through an initial $40,000 donation from Parkridge Health & HCA  Healthcare with the goal to revitalize the Orchard Knob neighborhood.

“During this giving season, we are reminded of community partners who are doing so much to make Chattanooga a healthier city,” said David Butler, CEO and President of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga. “We will begin this project by making home repairs that will make a difference by reducing a utility bill or keep older homeowners in their homes longer versus an assisted living facility because they are unable to do the repairs themselves.”

Tom Ozburn, president and CEO of Parkridge Health System, led the Orchard Knob Collaborative as a way to give back to the community.

“Without the support of our fellow neighborhood organizations we would not be able to make our community safer, cleaner, and healthier,” Mr. Ozburn said. “By working in solidarity with each other, we can demonstrate how community stewardship can help a community thrive.”

Mr. Ozburn, Mr. Butler and Dominique Brandt, vice president of community impact for United Way announced the Orchard Knob Collaborative on Saturday at the first annual neighborhood Fall Festival hosted by Parkridge Medical Center.

Parkridge Health has volunteered its workforce for the initial five home renovations and repairs, which will be supervised by Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat provides affordable homeownership opportunities for hardworking families in the greater Chattanooga area. Habitat is thankful for the opportunity to make Chattanooga a healthier community through this partnership with Parkridge Health System.
