Longtime Human Resources Director At Erlanger

Reta E. Rodgers, 65, of Chattanooga passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 after a seven-year battle with ovarian cancer.  

She was a native of Lawrenceburg, Tn.

Reta was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a Volunteer with Ladies of Charity.  She graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a BS in Business Administration.  She had been employed with Erlanger Hospital and retired as Human Resources Director after 23 years of service.  Reta was also a member of Chattanooga Newcomers and the PEO Sisterhood.

She was a very compassionate and loving individual and had a great love for her family, putting others before herself at all times.

Reta was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, Rex Rodgers; daughter, Jennifer Rodgers; son, Brandon (Betsey) Rodgers; grandchildren, John Henry Rodgers, Jude Rodgers, Noah Rodgers and Nicholas Rodgers; mother, Dortha Ellis; brother, Rickey (Jan) Ellis; sister, Renee (Ronnie) Ray; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Jim Vick and Father Mike Creson officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, 505 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412, Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404, Ladies of Charity, 2821 Rossville Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37407 or to your favorite charity.
