Center For Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics Welcomes Interventional Pain Management Physician

The Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics welcomed Candace McKee, MD, a fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician who specializes in non-operative spine care. Dr. McKee is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology. She will serve the needs of Chattanooga and the surrounding area from the practice’s Atrium 2 location on Gunbarrel Road.

“I’m honored to work alongside the elite team of medical providers at the Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics who prioritize high-quality consultation and care for our patients,” said Dr. McKee. “As a fellowship trained pain physician, my goal is to offer individualized treatment plans, with the goal to restore and maintain function and quality of life.”

Prior to joining the Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, Dr. McKee practiced as a consultant physician at a pain center in Somerset, Ky., where she provided acute and chronic interventional pain management in a hospital-based outpatient setting. She is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the North American Neuromodulation Society.

“Our practice offers exceptional care for both surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic pain management,” said Becky Farmer, CEO of Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics. “The addition of Dr. McKee and her expertise will expand our ability to serve patients experiencing mild to significant pain who are pursuing non-operative care plans.” 

Dr. McKee graduated with distinction from medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, where she served on numerous committees and volunteered with the Salvation Army Clinic, a student-established free clinic. She fulfilled her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was involved in research of post-operative pain relief after total knee arthroplasty. Following her residency, Dr. McKee returned to the University of Kentucky to complete her fellowship training in pain medicine.

A native of Cookeville, Tn., Dr. McKee now enjoys being part of the Chattanooga community with her husband, Tom, and their daughter, Lucy.
