The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that happened Nov. 29 at Dixie Food Mart, 2101 South Dixie Hwy.
On the day of the incident Ediovardo Quintero was taken into custody. At the time of Quintero's arrest, Quintero was in Chattanooga attempting to report a carjacking incident that Quintero claimed to be the victim.
Based on eyewitnesses' statements and information obtained at the scene, it was determined that four people were involved in the armed robbery. Three of the suspects entered the store and the fourth suspect acted as a lookout, driving a separate vehicle.
Police said the investigation also revealed that Jesus Nava, 29, planned the armed robbery and recruited Christopher Diaz, 25, who in turn, recruited Ediovardo Quintero, 23 and Rogelio Martinez, 26.
Nava was familiar with the layout of the store and the security system. Nava had recently installed some security equipment in Dixie Food Mart, and during the robbery all of the security equipment was taken from the store by the suspects.
