East Ridge City Councilmember, Mike Chauncey, was one of many local officials who completed the Local Government Leadership Program hosted by the Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership, an agency of The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service.

The city and county officials who attended the multi-day program in Knoxville were invited by the UT County Technical Assistance Service and the UT Municipal Technical Advisory Service, sister agencies of the Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership.  The program included sessions on ways to build an ethical culture, applying Lean practices in the public sector, understanding individual leadership characteristics and updates on the U.S.
and Tennessee economies.

Officials said, "LGLP began over two decades ago with the goal of cultivating proactive government leaders, and is designed to provide these leaders with knowledge and tools to help guide their cities and counties into the future.

"The program offers local government leaders an opportunity to explore ideas and strategies with each other, with LGLP alumni, and with UT faculty members. In addition, speakers and trainers from outside government share their insights and experiences."
