11-Year-Old Boy Shot On Usher Drive Early Sunday Morning; Police Trying To Identify Shooter

An 11-year-old boy was shot early Sunday morning on Usher Drive as he lay sleeping in his home.

At approximately 12:43 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a residence in the 5200 block of Usher Drive on reports of a person shot.
 
While en route to the residence, police were notified that the victim was being taken to a hospital via personal vehicle. The boy suffered significant, but non-life threatening injuries.
 
Upon arrival at the residence, police located evidence indicating shots were fired from outside the residence into the home. A resident in the home stated to police that the juvenile victim was asleep when struck by gunfire.
 
No injuries were reported by others who were in the home at the time of the shooting. CPD Homicide Unit Detectives are handling the investigation. At this time, there is no known suspect or motive.
