Chattanooga Under Flood Watch As New Round Of Storms Approaches

Chattanooga is under a Flood Watch until Saturday morning as a new round of heavy rain and thunderstorms was approaching from the west.

The city has already been pounded by days of rain, leading to minor flooding in the area and a number of road closures.

Here is the Flood Watch from the National Weather Service:

FLOOD WATCH FROM 12AM EST FRI UNTIL 7AM EST SAT ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A * FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA, EAST TENNESSEE, AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS, IN SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA, CHEROKEE AND CLAY.

IN EAST TENNESSEE, ANDERSON, BLEDSOE, BLOUNT SMOKY MOUNTAINS, BRADLEY, CAMPBELL, CLAIBORNE, COCKE SMOKY MOUNTAINS, EAST POLK, GRAINGER, HAMBLEN, HAMILTON, HANCOCK, HAWKINS, JEFFERSON, JOHNSON, KNOX, LOUDON, MARION, MCMINN, MEIGS, MORGAN, NW BLOUNT, NORTH SEVIER, NORTHWEST CARTER, NORTHWEST COCKE, NORTHWEST GREENE, NORTHWEST MONROE, RHEA, ROANE, SCOTT TN, SEQUATCHIE, SEVIER SMOKY MOUNTAINS, SOUTHEAST CARTER, SOUTHEAST GREENE, SOUTHEAST MONROE, SULLIVAN, UNICOI, UNION, WASHINGTON TN, AND WEST POLK. Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 117 Amhurst Ave. around 3 a.m. on Monday. The first firefighters on the scene reported significant flames on the backside of the house. The Chattanooga Football Club drew 7,285 fans to Finley Stadium for the club's first soccer contest of the year. CFC fell 2-0 to a team from Guatemala.
