James D. Delk
James D. Delk, 80, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life at his home early Saturday morning, May 18, 2019.
Mr. Delk was born in Celina, Tn. on Sept. 22, 1938. He was a son of the late J.D. and Clarcie Phillips Delk. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Jennings; and his brother, William Delk.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Mr. Delk was a previous Metro Police Officer with the Nashville, Tennessee Police Department. He had been a minister at Baptist Ridge Church of Christ and was a member at Tunnel Hill Church of Christ.
Mr. Delk is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Delk of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Delk of Dalton, Ga., Wanda and Mike Allen of Madison, Tn.; sisters and brother-in-law, Mae Maxwell of Celina, Tn. and Ann and Ronnie Hunt of Nashville, Tn.; grandchildren, Lauren Lackey of Dalton, Ga., Amanda Allen of Madison, Tn., and Michael Allen Jr. of Pensacola, Fl.; and great-grandchildren, Samuel, Ava, Elijah, Noah, and Roman.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Delk will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Minister Roy Clark officiating. The Dalton American Legion Post 112 will present Military Honors.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, from noon until the service hour.
A service will also be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Mount Olivet Funeral Home in Nashville, Tn. with Minister David Gregory officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home from noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
