Annual STEM Jubilee Looks To Be The Largest School-Based STEM Activity In Tennessee

  • Friday, May 3, 2019

STEM School Chattanooga will host the fifth annual STEM Jubilee on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 on the campus of Chattanooga State Community College.  This year, the event is known as the Amazon STEM Jubilee with the addition of Amazon as a supporter and the 2019 event is presented by First Tennessee.

This annual STEM event introduces elementary school students to a variety of science, technology, engineering and math-related concepts through hands-on activities with a mission to inspire STEM curiosity and interest. The Amazon STEM Jubilee is planned to be the largest school-based STEM activity ever to be hosted in the state of Tennessee with over 4,000 elementary students from throughout Hamilton County attending.

Children attending this year’s sold-out event will experience student-created STEM-based activities, games and challenges at over 85 booths.  These classroom-tested games and activities will feature robotics, drones, air cannons, bubbles and microscopes that have been developed by STEM School Chattanooga students.

In partnership with the Remake Learning Days Across America Chattanooga initiative, Chattanooga STEM School will host a tour and open house experience for parents and educators on Thursday, May 16 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.   Students and parent volunteers will guide visitors through the on-site Jubilee experience, through a variety of booths, activities and programs created and led by STEM students.

Registration for the tour and open house is required, and spaces are available online here.

The 2019 Amazon STEM Jubilee is presented by First Tennessee, with support from partnerships, including Hamilton County Schools, Chattanooga State Community College, the Creative Discovery Museum, the Girls Preparatory School, the Public Education Foundation and the Signal Mountain Middle-High School.
