Robert Brian Cox, 40, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and simple assault/domestic violence after allegedly kidnapping and assaulting his girlfriend.

In the incident on Tuesday at 1092 Combs Trail, police said they responded to a report of simple assault.

According to the victim, Amber Dunn, she had gotten into a heated argument with Cox. During the argument, Cox allegedly threw her to the ground and grabbed her arms tightly.

After this physical confrontation, she attempted to grab her car keys, but Cox would not let her do so. After a while, Cox relented, with the stipulation that he would be the one driving.

While driving, the two continued to argue. When she tried to leave the car, Cox did not let her by grabbing her hand as she attempted to get out.

Ms. Dunn said she was holding a lit cigarette during this time, and she burned her hand when he grabbed her hand.

She then began to hit Cox, and then she grabbed a flashlight in the car and began to beat it against the windshield.

Cox then took the flashlight from her, and began to choke her by holding it against her neck, she told police.

After this, the victim was allowed to leave the car.

When police arrived, Cox admitted to arguing with his girlfriend. However, he maintained that he never hit her.

Cox is currently at the Hamilton County Jail.
