Couch's BBQ on Lee Highway has made the Southern Living list of the South's best barbeque.
The business has been in the same local family for 73 years and is now operated by Sarah and Malcolm. Malcolm also farms at their Birchwood farm.
In March of 1946, Will and Agnes Couch saw a business opportunity and jumped on it. They built a small roadside café, and from the start business was good. It wasn’t long before Couch’s Barbeque was well known as the place to take a break and enjoy some real-pit barbeque and a cold bottle of Coca-Cola before continuing on your way.
Couch's BBQ is big on home cooking, including pies, and healthy items too. The barbeque is cooked on a brick pit, hand turned and basted with the same recipe that was used in 1946.
