Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Crews may continue surveying at various locations throughout the interchange. Shoulders may be closed at these locations between 9 AM and 3 PM. Additionally, a hauling operation will be taking place requiring a single left lane closure on I-75 SB at MM 3, a single left or right lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185, and a single left lane closure on I-75 NB MM 0 (state line). These lane closures will occur nightly between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the interstate at these locations. Traffic pacing will occur 08/18/19 from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. and begin at the following locations: I-24 EB at the Belvoir on-ramp MM 184, I-75 NB at the Cloud Springs Road on-ramp MM 353, and I-75 SB at the E Brainerd Road on-ramp MM 4. [C.W. US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Thursday night and Friday night from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. a temporary road closure will be in place for Riverfront Parkway from Chestnut Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard (Local traffic only will be allowed from Martin Luther King Boulevard to a 100’ from the Olgiati Bridge and from Chestnut Street to a 100’ from the Olgiati Bridge) for hanging gutters over the Riverfront. Traffic will be detoured to Chestnut Street / Martin Luther King Boulevard. Thursday night from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. temporary lane closures will be in place for Northbound US27 from I24 to the Olgiati Bridge and Southbound from the Olgiati Bridge to I24 for litter pickup. The South Frontage Road (Collector Road) will be closed temporarily for litter pickup during the night for a short period. No other ramps will be affected by these closures. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27)Northbound Exit 1C 4th St Off Ramp: No oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27)Southbound Exit 1C 4th St Of Ramp: On oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1A-B Martin Luther King Blvd. Off Ramp: No oversized/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound On Ramps from Martin Luther King Blvd.: No oversized/over dimensional loads. TDOT Bridge Maintenance on SR-60 (STATE HWY. 60) both directions from LM 0.87 to LM 0.87: TDOT Bridge Maintenance will be performing concrete culvert repairs on SR-60 at LM 0.87. This work will take place on Tuesday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.Traffic control will be in place at this time.

Utility Work on I-75 in both directions from MM 5.0 to MM 10.32: A rolling road block will take place on I-75 between Hamilton Place Blvd exit and Volkswagen Drive exit. THP will be present, as well as signage, and programmable message boards. Motorists should be prepared to stop and use caution while traveling through this area. Work will occur on Sunday from 4-5 a.m.

Utility Work on SR-320 (E. Brainerd Road) westbound from LM 3.7 to LM 3.8: A single lane closure for utility work will take place on E. Brainerd Road between Kinsey Drive and Stanley Avenue. Arrow boards, signage, and flaggers will be present during this work. Motorists should use caution. Work will occur on Monday between 9 p.m.-3 a.m.

SR-111 Repair of bridge over SR-29 (US-27): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed in each direction of SR-111 while performing bridge repairs. The contractor will also be closing one lane in each direction on SR-29 as it passes under SR-111. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Additionally, from Sunday through Thursday, Aug. 22, the contractor will need to completely close the ramp from SR111 southbound to SR29 northbound. The road closures will only be in effect between 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Tennessee Highway Patrol will be present to assist with traffic control. Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on SR-2 (US-64, US-11), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on SR-8 (US-127), and the Bachman Tubes on SR-8 (US-76, US-41): There will be a flagging operation supporting the cleaning of the McCallie Tunnels on Wednesday, (8 p.m.-6 a.m.). Later that night the Stringer’s Ridge Tunnel will be cleaned under a signed detour traffic control plan. On Thursday, Aug. 22, (8 p.m.-6 a.m.) the Bachman tunnels will be cleaned under a signed detour traffic control plan.  Estimated project completion date is June. [Diamond Specialized, Inc./Micka/CNT196]

SR-153 Resurfacing from north of Shallowford Road (LM 2.6) to north of SR-58 (LM 4.8), including bridge deck repair: Milling and paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday of this reporting period. All work will take place between 8 p.m.-6 a.m. and could involve double lane closures in either the NB or SB direction. At least one lane will remain open in each direction during the construction activity. Estimated project completion date is November. [Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc./Micka/CNT087]

SR-2 (US-11, US-64) Resurfacing from east of Shallowford Road (LM 18.6) to Yerbey Drive (LM 20.3): During this report period, the contractor will have lane closures while performing resurfacing operations. Lane closures will be limited to one lane at any given time. Law Enforcement will be present. TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (Cummings Highway) east bound lane from LM 3.5 to LM 4.5:  TDOT Bridge Maintenance will be repairing a retaining wall on SR-2 at LM 4.0. This work will take place on Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.Traffic control will be in place at this time. One lane will be closed in the east bound direction.

SR-8 (Signal Mountain Boulevard) in both directions from LM 15.6 to LM 16.2: Signal Mountain Blvd. from LM 15.7 to LM 16.2 will be reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The southbound lane will be closed for the maintenance contractor to install a soil nail retaining wall. [GeoStabilization International, LLC /Osbonlighter/MAINT]
