Franklin Bennett
Franklin Carrell Bennett, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away on August 24, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Georgia Bennett of Appleton, Mo., and brother, William Lee Bennett of Independence, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict having been honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant on Sept. 11, 1956.
He was employed in the commercial glass and glazing industry starting in 1966 and most recently an estimator for Ross Glass & Aluminum, retiring in March 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Jean Bennett, four sons, Larry (Shannon) Bennett, Mark (Tami) Bennett, David (Kim) Bennett, and Bradley Bennett; two stepsons, Joe (Denise) Jones and Jimmy (Susan) Jones; two sisters, Florence (Donnie) Snyder, and Ilene (Gary) Rapp, sister-in-law, Donna Sue Bennett, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Note to Sylvia written by Frank dated May 2011: “When you read this, I am either dead or dying! We had a great time together didn’t we? I could not have asked for a better wife and companion! The only thing that kept you from being a “perfect 10” was not knowing which side to pepper an egg. Oh well... I hope you have a great long life and Love always, Frank.”
A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
