Cody Eric Atcheson, 26, of Fort Oglethorpe, lost his battle with addiction on Saturday, September 7, 2019, with his dog Zeus by his side.

Cody was born in Chattanooga, lived most of his life in the North Georgia area, and spent the last year in South Jordan, Utah. He was homeschooled since the third grade and attended the Word of Life Bible Institute. Cody worked at Buffalo Wild Wings in Fort Oglethorpe and in the Sugar House location of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a kid at heart who loved movies and loved to laugh. Cody “owned” his birthday of April 1by making people laugh, telling jokes, and pulling pranks. He is loved and will be missed by all.

Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Judy Atcheson; maternal grandmother, Joyce Johnson; uncle, Jim Miller; and aunt, Kristine Atcheson.

Survivors include his parents, Allen Atcheson and Gloria Atcheson; sister, Kayla (Tim) Little; “adopto” sister, Ashley Davis; maternal grandfather, Marlin Johnson; nephews, Paxton and Jace Little; uncles and aunts, Mary (David Ailey) Atcheson, Doyle Atcheson, Avery Atcheson, Bill Johnson, and Virginia (Roger) Bolander; dog, Zeus; several cousins and a host of friends.

Contributions in Cody’s memory may be made to Autism Speaks at autismspeaks.org or Adult & Teen Challenge at tcmidsouth.org.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at Bible Way Baptist Church 2444 Lakeview Drive, Rossville, Ga. 30741 with Dr. Vincent Estill officiating. Cody will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in the Garmany Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9-11:30 a.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
