CFD Gets Call For "Murky Substance" In River At Ross’s Landing; Turns Out To Be Form Of Algae

The Chattanooga Fire Department was called to Ross’s Landing this afternoon to investigate a murky substance in the water.

The call came in as a spill on the Tennessee River near the aquarium along Riverfront Parkway. 

Crews responded to investigate the substance and gathered samples to test it. 

As a precaution, river booms were put out to prevent the unknown substance from going downriver.

According to special operations personnel, it is a form of algae and is no hazard.
