The Chattanooga Fire Department was called to Ross’s Landing this afternoon to investigate a murky substance in the water.
The call came in as a spill on the Tennessee River near the aquarium along Riverfront Parkway.
Crews responded to investigate the substance and gathered samples to test it.
As a precaution, river booms were put out to prevent the unknown substance from going downriver.
According to special operations personnel, it is a form of algae and is no hazard.
