Bryan College Honors Dr. Augustine Asir

  • Friday, September 20, 2019

Bryan College recognized Dr. Augustine Asir for 50 years of full-time ministry and 20 years of partnership with Bryan College.

A lifelong native of India, Dr. Asir is the founder of Word to the World, an evangelistic ministry to the socially neglected people of India with over 200 Indian missionaries serving in nineteen of India’s 36 states and territories.

Over the last two decades, Bryan College has sent dozens of students to serve with Dr. Asir and Word For The World via both Break for Change (a short-term missions program during the beginning of summer break) and Acts Project (a summer-long internship). This summer, five students spent two weeks in multiple cities across southern India through Break for Change; two other students spent their summer in various locations including Chennai, Madurai, and Mumbai, preaching, teaching, and working with outcasts.

Dr. Asir is a familiar face on campus, visiting once a year to share in classes and meet with students, faculty, staff, and leadership. In 2014, Bryan College recognized his impact on the hundreds of thousands in India who have heard the gospel through his ministry by presenting him with an honorary doctorate.
