U.S. Navy Veteran Was Active In Real Estate Business

Charles Edward Elliott passed peacefully at his home on Sept. 3, 2019.

Chuck never met a stranger and dearly loved God, his country, his wife, and family. He was born May 13, 1935 in. Sewanee, TN. He is preceded by his parents, Mae and Sam Elliott, and by brothers Bill, Sam and Joe Elliott.

Chuck was a United States Navy veteran, retiring as Master Chief after 20 years of service which included tours of duty in Singapore, the Philippines, and the Mediterranean. Upon completion of military duty, he received an associate degree in accounting from Chattanooga State. He was active in the real estate business in Chattanooga and built numerous homes in the Soddy Daisy area before retiring to a life of leisurely workouts and lively conversations with cherished friends at The Sports Barn North.  He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet French Elliott, two brothers Jim (Martha) Elliott, Bristol, IN and John Elliott, Cleveland, OH, sister Peggy Baker (Kenneth), Manchester, TN, and many beloved nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North on Highway 153. A memorial service, officiated by Reverend Steve Atkins, will be held at 1 p.m., followed by interment at the National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck’s memory will be gratefully received by The Pet Placement Center, 595 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37415, Soddy Daisy Food Bank, 203 Depot Street, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379 or the Salvation Army, 822 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
