Mearil Edith Wimpy Pierce, 83, of the Westside community, passed away at Wooddale Health Care in Dalton, Georgia, on Thursday, September 5, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Pierce; a son, Boyd Pierce; parents, Floyd and Chloriece Wimpy; a grandson, Randy Pierce; a great-grandson, Hunter Pierce; a brother, Melvin Wimpy; and three sisters, Naomi Ausmus, Wilda Jones, Virginia Parkerson.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Blake Rann of Ringgold; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Alfie Pierce of Calhoun; one sister, Mary Lou “Georgie” Caylor of Cohutta; five grandchildren, Claire Rann, Lily Rann, Wesley Pierce, Devan and Chris Lane, and Bryce Pelfrey; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pierce will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
