Henry Franklin Jacks, Jr., 84, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Henry was born in Decatur, Al., and raised in Chattanooga.  He graduated from Tyner High School Class of ’53 and the University of Chattanooga in 1969.  Henry was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and chairman of the Building & Finance Committee.  Mr. Jacks retired from Combustion Engineering as a project manager and served on the Hamilton County Baptist Association.

Henry was an enthusiastic supporter of Senior Olympics and encouraged many to participate in them.  He loved the competition and camaraderie but most important the friendship he developed over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Henry Jacks, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sybil Jacks; children, Andrew Jacks, Susan (Randall) McCloud and Stacy (Frank) Alexander; grandsons, Garren (Sarah) McCloud, Bryce McCloud, Jackson Alexander and Nicolas Alexander; great-grandson, Max McCloud; and sister, Donna (Frank) Scoggins.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home and from 12:30-2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421 with Dr. Doug Plumlee and Judge Clarence Shattuck officiating.  Additional visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. before the service.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Chattanooga Bombers Senior Basketball Team.
