James Stone
A Chattanooga man was run over by a truck after his ex-girlfriend’s not-kidnapper saw the two together in a bizarre early December incident.
On Dec. 6, officers responded to an aggravated assault call at 4004 Rossville Blvd. According to police, they found the victim lying on the sidewalk, his ankle allegedly broken by James Stone, 50.
The victim told police he had received a message from his ex-girlfriend, where she said she had been kidnapped by Stone and had been held hostage for a week. She told the victim they were at the Taco Bell on Rossville Boulevard.
When the victim got to Taco Bell, he saw his ex-girlfriend and they began to walk north on the boulevard. After getting two blocks down the road, Stone caught up to them and then “ran over” the victim with his truck. While the victim lay on the ground, Stone forced the woman into the truck with him.
While at the hospital, the victim allowed the officer to look at the messages on his phone between him and his ex. According to the report, the woman was walking around and became tired, so she asked Stone to pick her up. Stone and the woman then got food at Taco Bell.
It was at this point that the ex-girlfriend texted the victim and lied about being kidnapped. On Jan. 22, Stone was arrested for aggravated assault.
