James Greenwood Blakemore of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed on Monday, October 12, 2020, at home. 

He was born May 28, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.

He was a member of the Orchard Knob Baptist Church where he participated in the Harold K. Lester Choir, The Male Chorus and the Gospel Choir.  He enjoyed tinkering with things, singing, and working.  He was a graduate of Riverside High School, class of 1970. James was employed by Red Food Store Chain, Erlanger Hospital and was currently working for Parkridge Medical Center when he passed.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Nancy Blakemore; aunt, Jane Davenport; brother, Charles Marbury; and uncle, Herman Davenport.  He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings and cousins; Robert (Sherita) Blakemore, Clara Smith, Samuel Blakemore, Cynthia Blakemore, Nathan Blakemore and Frederick Marbury; cousins, Herman (Elaine) Davenport, Cleo Tumlin, Robert (Janine) Davenport; special friend and brother, Lutrell (Loretta) Brown ; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family visitation will be held at John P. Franklin from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, followed by a celebration of life graveside funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
