Cleveland Downtown Trick Or Treat Stroll Is Friday And Saturday

  • Tuesday, October 27, 2020

Mainstreet Cleveland’s Downtown Trick or Treat Stroll, a traditional style trick-or-treat is Friday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 3-6 p.m.  Kids and families are invited to trick-or-treat throughout downtown at 40 local businesses, retailers and restaurants for the Mars Wrigley candy giveaway.  Trick or Treaters will be greeted on the sidewalks, plus there will be street musicians, and a festive atmosphere.

Musical entertainment for the Trick or Treat Stroll is sponsored by the Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce Tourism Development.  Performers on Friday from 5-8 p.m. are:  CJ Warren at the Courthouse Plaza; Dale Click on 1st Street; and John Nerren at First Street Square.  Saturday performers from 3-6 p.m. are: Joel Beaver Band at the Courthouse Plaza, CJ Warren on 1st Street; and TNT Music at First Street Square.

The long running Halloween block party was reimagined for 2020 due to safety precautions surrounding COVID-19.  The two-day event will allow more social distancing and be spread out to include the Courthouse Square area, First Street Square, Museum Center and the Old Woolen Mill.

Parents should be mindful that streets will remain open for this sidewalk event. It is the perfect time to wear a mask, which is highly recommended.  Persons distributing candy will be wearing masks and gloves.

Officials said, "Mars Wrigley is a generous sponsor and providing plenty of candy; they have been a tremendous supporter to the downtown Halloween block party for over 20 years."

Sponsors include Cleveland Police Department, Waste Connections and Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce Tourism Development.

“In a year with so many cancellations, it is exciting to have an alternative plan that continues to offer children a safe choice for trick-or-treating,” said Sharon Marr, MainStreet Cleveland executive director. “It was a difficult decision to change the long-standing tradition of the Halloween block party; however, everyone involved in planning the event placed health and safety as the highest priority.”
