It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the death of Glenda Jane Daniel (nee Rogers) on November 17, 2020, due to complications following a stroke.
Glenda was born on Oct. 11, 1940, to Bonnie and Omer Rogers of Ider, Al. Glenda lived in Ider before moving to Dade County, where she lived with her beloved husband of 59 years, Lyndal “Sonny” Daniel.
Glenda was known far and wide for her beauty and inherent sweetness. She loved reading, cooking (those who had the privilege of eating her chicken and dumplings will surely agree), providing shelter to generations of bluebirds and using her green thumb to create beautiful flowers all around her home. Most of all, however, Glenda loved sitting outside under the shade trees with Sonny, reminiscing about their lives together and sharing stories about their grandchildren, in whom she took immeasurable delight.
Glenda was, quite simply, the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend one could ever hope to have. Her kindness and gentle nature were a model for us all.
In addition to Sonny, Glenda is survived by her three siblings, Newell Rogers, Anita Hammonds (Steve) and Donna Scott (Tom); her three children, Regina Holman, Roger Daniel and Jimmy Daniel (Cade); and her six grandchildren, Betsy Holman, Anna Holman, Eric Daniel (Emily), Megan Daniel, Jay Daniel and Catherine Daniel.
Due to safety considerations, the family will be having a private service to honor Glenda’s memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 376, Ider, Al. 35981.
