Elder, Dorothy "Dot" Alletta McCall (Cleveland)

Dorothy “Dot” Alletta McCall Elder, 88, resident of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at an assisted living facility. She attended First Baptist Church of Cleveland. She worked with children in Cleveland City Schools for many years, enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to shop and cook.

Mrs. Elder was the daughter of the late Ida Louise Kilpatrick and George Cecil McCall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin R. Elder, Sr. She has two surviving sisters; Shirley Hendrix of Greenville, SC and Betty Pierce, of Pensacola, Fl.

She is also survived by four children and their spouses: Mary Holder, Melvin Elder, Jr. and Kay, Joan Haney and Gayle Vandergriff and Gene, all of Cleveland. She was proud of her eight grandchildren, Keith and Marc Daughtery, April Duncan (Jim), Adam Elder (Traci), Laura Gregory (Josh), Dallas Holder, Aletta and Zach Vandergriff; 11 great-grandchildren, Rebekah Sebier (Jonah), Janna and Jacob Duncan, Taylor, Mellisa, and Jesse Daugherty, David and Andi Elder, Wyatt, Logan and Cason Gregory.

The funeral will be held for family only at the graveside due to Covid-19 restrictions on Friday, Nov. 27. Reverend Tom Wickes will officiate and David Clark will be providing the music.

Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Elder family with these arrangements.
