Officials Monitoring Unstable Embankment On Signal Mountain Road

  • Thursday, February 6, 2020

The Chattanooga Fire Department’s Special Operations Division was on the scene of a concerning situation on Signal Mountain Road on Thursday.

Authorities received a call from EPB Thursday morning as their crews were out working to restore power to residents in a mobile home park.

They found an unstable embankment behind several of the trailers and notified CFD. There had been a small mudslide.

CFD’s Special Operations Chief contacted the necessary officials in the city’s Land Development Office and they responded to the scene to take a look at the ridge and possible problematic areas.

The mobile home park, Edmonds Properties, is across the street from the Subway collapse last February due to a mudslide.

The Chattanooga Fire Department turned things over to the city and property owner in this matter.

The Land Development Office has instructed the property owner on what actions need to be taken for several impacted residents to be able to stay in their homes.

The management at the site has gone above and beyond to address the issue, taking out extra trees from the ridge in an effort to keep residents safe.

This situation is directly related to the heavy rains the Chattanooga area has been experiencing.
