Rebecca Shelton, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. 

A native of Belle Haven, Va., she has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 65 years.
She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and Silverdale Baptist Church and was a retired registered nurse from CHI Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Chattanooga Dulcimers and Accompaniment Group and was a prolific artist.  She enjoyed animals and especially riding horses and loved the outdoors.  Rebecca also served as a Girl Scout Leader and she loved cooking.

She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Fox and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shelton.

Survivors include her children, Sandy (Greg) Fairchild and Connie (Steve) Howard; grandchildren, Evan Howard, Alyssa Howard, Chris Adams and Stefanie Bodenbender; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Macey and Jesse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga at hospiceofchattanooga.com.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the Valley View Chapel with the Reverend Michelle Brock officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Franktown, Va.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
