Review for Bleacher Bums:
Bleacher Bums is a comedy in nine innings. This hilarious and nostalgic play pays homage to the most legendary baseball fans around - the die-hard faithful in Chicago’s storied right field bleachers of Wrigley Field - as they root for their beloved, beleaguered Cubs against their bitter rival Cardinals in 1977. The group includes a lifelong Cubs follower who doesn’t know as much as his wife, a rabid fan, a blind man who follows the game by transistor radio with his own play by play, a bathing beauty, a nerd, and two gamblers, one a Cubs fan, the other a fan of any team that will win him the bet. As the game proceeds, they bet amongst themselves on every conceivable event, go out for frosty malts and beers, try to pick up the bathing beauty and, occasionally, watch the game.
The production features Rob Inman, Janet McInturff, Dennis Parker, Levi Witt, Matt Plaas, Don Strickland, Sarah Crouch, Rider Barnum, Guinevere and Eowyn Shoop.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and are available at www.yellowdragonproductions.org.
