Alice Olear von Rohr Goforth, 98, of Hixson, died on Thursday, March 26, 2020, in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.

She was wife to Herbert Victor Goforth for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Sequatchie County High School. She said she read every book in the library before she graduated. She was daughter to (Jake) Jacob and Virtye Pope von Rohr, who preceded her in death as well as all her brothers and sisters, Flora, Una, Walter, Thelma, Ina, Wilson, and Fred.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and has volunteered planting flowers at Soddy Daisy Health Care, as well as bringing flowers and gifts of food for the patients.

She worked at Dixie Yarn Mill in Lupton City, where she met her husband. She and her husband owned Goforth Greenhouses in Hixson, and made many friends through their giving spirit. You rarely left their home hungry or empty handed. She once said the saddest part of growing old is out living your friends.

Survivors include sons, Larry Goforth, and Tommy Goforth; grandson, Jeremy Goforth; niece, Sue Brown and family.

A private graveside will be held on Saturday.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
