Benjamin Hendrich
The Chattanooga branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers selected Bryan College freshman Benjamin Hendrich for a $1,000 scholarship.
Mr. Hendrich was one of four area students selected for the award. The Maryville native noted that the scholarship will assist in helping him meet his financial obligations to further his education. In addition, he shared that he’s in the process of applying for a short-term mission trip which would limit his ability to take on a summer job.
Mr.
Hendrich was made aware of the scholarship by fellow Bryan College student and president of the college’s ASCE student chapter, Russell Green. Mr. Hendrich’s membership in the local chapter along with a recommendation from the college’s dean of engineering were critical in his selection for the scholarship.
About obtaining the scholarship, Mr. Hendrich said, “While there are some amazing opportunities online, students can compete against a much smaller pool of applicants by applying for extremely local, very specific scholarships.” The scholarship was only open to members of the ASCE student chapters at Bryan College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
“This scholarship will help make my education more manageable next semester,” said Mr. Hendrich, “I am very grateful to the Chattanooga branch of the ASCE for this honor.”
