Gerald Wayne Minton, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at a local hospital.
He was born in Knoxville, on August 5, 1947 to T.C. and Josephine Minton, and later graduated from Oak Ridge High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from East Tennessee State University.
Even though Gerald retired from both Combustion Engineering and Tennessee Valley Authority, after retirement he went on to work as an Engineering Consultant.
He loved fishing, going to the beach, and spending a lot of time at his home in Florida where he had the opportunity to enjoy his hobbies; he loved both freshwater and saltwater fishing.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, T.C. Minton; bother, Phillip Minton and son, Nathan Minton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Josephine Minton; sons, Jay (Lori) Minton of Chattanooga and Chris (Jessy) Minton of Knoxville; stepson, Mitch (Amy) Knox; grandchildren, Jessica, Silas, Lily Grace and Ava; great-grandchild Tucker; devoted companion of 40 years, Edith Knox; other family members, relatives and dear friends.
Services are private.
Interment will be in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
