Homer Thornhill
Homer Edward Thornhill, affectionately known as “Buddy,” 84, of Chattanooga entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 13, 2020, in a local health care facility.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1935, in Chattanooga. He was a member of the Howard High graduating class of 1953. He was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he actively served in the male chorus until his health failed. He was employed at Velsicol Chemical for many years and later retired from Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Thornhill; sister, James Etta Hudson; nephew, James Alvin Hudson; niece, Tandra Hudson Sands.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Michael (Benita) Thornhill, Terrance Thornhill; three daughters, Celeste Thornhill, Demetrius (Orlando) Wiley, Duana Cooper; devoted nephew, Greg (Jean) Hudson; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friend, Christine Moore. He will be most missed for his enthusiastic smile and witty sense of humor.
Mr. Thornhill will lie in state from 3–6 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at the funeral home.
Graveside services and Interment for immediate family will be held on Friday, June 19, at Greenwood Cemetery.
