Albert E. Guth, 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2020. 

Al was a graduate of Central High School. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from McKenzie Business College. He also served in the Army National Guard.

He began his career with Industrial Boiler Company as bookkeeper and purchasing agent and stayed with them when the company was sold to CMI in 1969. In 1972, Al helped to found Astec Industries with four of his friends and co-workers. As the company grew, he served as VP of Accounting, Chief Financial Officer and served on the Board of Directors. In 1996 he started Astec Financial Services, an in-house finance division. He retired in 2006 as Senior VP of Administration.

Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and Vols fan. He was a quiet and dignified man but often showed his humorous side to family and close friends. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Annie Guth, and his sister, Gwendolyn Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annita Guth; daughter, Amy (Scott) Wright; sons, Allan (Debbie) Guth and Andrew (Kellie) Guth; grandchildren, Jenna Hartmann, Hayden and Gavin Guth, Austin Guth and sister, Thelma Eldredge.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend David Hall officiating. Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
