Owen Tommy "Cornbread" Rymer
Owen Tommy "Cornbread" Rymer, 63, of Benton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2020.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #636, Painter’s Union #226 for 20 years and was the business rep for the Local #226 and #437. He enjoyed selling corn and interacting with all of his customers and loved hunting, fishing and was a master story teller. Tommy loved spending time with his friends and family and adored being with his beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Melvin Rymer; and one brother, Willie Phillip Rymer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Karen Darlene “Dolly” Rymer; beloved children, Karen Rymer (Joseph) Lowry, Matthew Rymer and Sara Rymer; adored grandchildren, Bella and Owen Lowry; siblings, Margie (Ronnie) Raines and Wilma (Thomas) Jones; and special friends, Ray Whitehead, Morris Swafford and Jeff Swanson. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 17, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hatcher and Pastor Carl Haulk officiating. Interment will follow at Rymer Cemetery with Morris Swafford, Mickey Cronan, Mitchell Santiago, Jeff Swanson, Ray Whitehead, Ryan Enos, David Rymer, Rodney Rymer and Ronnie Raines serving as pallbearers. Joseph Lowry will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, July 17, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
