Jo Linda Hand (née Brannon) passed away on August 11, 2020. 

Jo Linda was born in Cedartown, Ga., on Sept. 29, 1933, to the late Barbara Pauline Alred and Enoch Joseph Brannon. She was the last surviving of four siblings. Jo Linda grew up in Cedartown and Rockmart, Ga., and attended Berry College near Rome. For many years she followed her husband, Walter, to various locations in Texas and Tennessee, including Chattanooga. In 1977 they moved to Atlanta, where Jo Linda began a career with McGraw-Hill.  After she retired they returned to Tennessee and, following Walter’s death, she settled in Jasper.  The last decade of Jo Linda’s life was increasingly and devastatingly punctuated by dementia.

Jo Linda is survived by her beloved children, Renee (Michael) Looney, Dana Brown, and Thomas (Athena); her grandchildren, Gina, Merlin, Joshua, and Blake; and great-grandchildren, Virginia, Noah, Mary-Frances, Savannah, and Hudson, as well as by several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

In accordance with Jo Linda’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be in Dickson, Tn. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
