Mayor Coppinger Authorizes Contact Sports To Begin As Of Monday In Hamilton County

  • Monday, August 3, 2020

Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger has made it official, announcing that organized K-12 public and private school contact sports can resume provided they follow TSSAA requirements. Additionally, non-school sponsored athletics must follow Tennessee Pledge Guidelines.

The Hamilton County Health Department is authorizing these activities based on the state of Tennessee’s Executive Order 55, signed by Governor Bill Lee.

Those guidelines can be found on the Hamilton County’s website at www.hamiltontn.gov or at  https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/pub/execorders/exec-orders-lee55.pdf

The Hamilton County Health Department’s Directive No. 1 (item 9) exempting Hamilton County schools has been amended to include private schools (link below).
