Carolyn Lucile Stone Slayton, 92, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, in a local health care facility. 

She attended Howard High School. She was a member of Greater Faith Temple Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald Stone and Kevin Stone, Sr.; grandson, Clifford Stone; parents, John and Hattie Stone, Sr.; siblings, John Stone, Jr. and Rosie Stocker. 

Survivors include her sons, Henry (Gloria) Slayton, Jr. and Michael (Lori) White; daughter, Althera “Buffy” Brown; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Stone; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three devoted grandchildren, Kevin Stone, Jr., Quinton Bankston, and Shakera Edwards; devoted Sisters-in-Christ, Jennie Allen, Rosa Wakefield, Wanda Hayes, and Annette Wilson; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. 

She will lie in state on Friday, Aug. 7, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Family service will be on Saturday, Aug. 8, at noon in the chapel with Pastor Michael Lacy as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
