Joseph William “J.” Peers III, 88, of Chattanooga passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.  

He was an elder at East Ridge Church of Christ.  Mr. Peers retired from the United States Army and also retired as vice president of ATEK. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Hillis Sauceman and a granddaughter, Julie Ann Davenport.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wunderlich Peers; daughter Brook Taylor; son, Bill (Teresa) Peers; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Elizabeth Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with Charles Cochran and Bob Oliver officiating.  Services will be live streamed on Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel’s Facebook page. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10:3 a.m. Monday wimilitary honors. 

The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
