U.S. Navy Veteran Was Retired Insurance Adjuster

Lamar Owens, 83, of East Ridge, passed away on August 7, 2020.

He was a graduate of Red Bank High School and upon graduation he joined the United States Navy where he was stationed in Japan serving with the Naval Internal Affairs Division. After he was honorably discharged he went into business for himself and retired as an insurance adjuster. He was also the owner of Owen’s Appraisal as well. Lamar was a member of the Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward J. Owens, his parents, Joseph and Fronia Owens, and two brothers.

Left behind to cherish Lamar’s memory are his wife of 58 years, Catherine, sons, George A. and Thomas C. Owens, a granddaughter, Jolene Owens, two sisters, Minnie C. Cannon, and Lorene Grider, a brother, Howard C. “Corky” Owens, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Lamar’s Life will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 10:30 a.m. with military honors being provided by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post 95. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 4-7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
