Bobby J. Kyle Sr., 77, a resident of Benton, passed away on Monday evening, September 14, 2020 at his home. He was born on Jan. 23, 1943 in Fannin County, Georgia, a son of the late Wilburn & Bertha Kyle. Bobby was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of Gateway Church of Christ, and retired from Bendix-Allied Signal-Honeywell of Cleveland. Bobby was a devoted supporter of the Polk County High School Gridiron Club and had a lifelong love for woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Regina Buckner, Lillie Mae Allen, Evelyn Green and his twin sister, Betty McAllister; two brothers, Roy Kyle and Larry Kyle; and his son-in-law, Sonny Hayes.
Bobby leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Wilson Kyle; daughter, Carla A. Hayes; three sons, Bobby J. Kyle Jr., Billy Kyle and Jay Kyle; 11 grandchildren, Spenser Kyle, Cori Kyle, Cody Kyle, Kaylee Kyle, Eddie Messer, III, Sydney Hayes, Carla Coggins, Curtis Hayes, Madelynn Kyle, Natalie Kyle and Sebastian Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Beau Kyle, Makenna Messer, Kylen Messer and Brayleigh Coggins; one sister, Estalee Keller; four brothers, Herdis Kyle, George Kyle, Benny Kyle and Tommy Kyle; and was affectionately called “Papaw Bob” by many others.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 18 from 5-7 p.m. in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home, 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland. A funeral service will follow the visitation time at 7 p.m. on Friday, with Minister Bill Corn officiating.
