Randy Ray Thompson, 68, of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was born in Albertville, Al. on Feb. 13, 1952 to the late Richard Baine and Lela Lorraine Virginia Romans Thompson. He retired after 42 years of dedicated service to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as a senior custodian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, J.T. Thompson, of Alabama, Wayne Thompson, of Georgia and Billy Joe Thompson, of Alabama.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 47 years, Nellie Mae Ledford Thompson; son, David and Amanda Thompson, of Cleveland; daughter, Loretta Thompson, of Cleveland; granddaughter, Shelby Mason, of Cleveland; grandson, Jessie Thompson, of Cleveland; siblings, Rodger Thompson, of Alabama, Kandy and Billy Young, of Albertville, Al. and Brenda (Rodger) Hollis, of Alabama; and a host of extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon on Sunday, Jan. 24 in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road, NW in Cleveland. Additional visitation will be held at the Albertville Funeral Home Downtown, 125 West Main St. in Albertville, Al. from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. Randy will be laid to rest in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville, Al. at 3 p.m. Central Standard Time, with Rodger Thompson, Chris Thompson, Michael Young, Billy Young, Jerry Richards and Wade Bowgus serving as pallbearers.
